Learn moreIn 1923, two Swedish seamen, Hans Elliot and Carl Janson, arrived in Panama after disembarking from the merchant vessel "America Land." They seized the opportunity to explore business prospects in Panama and initially established a cabotage service for transporting bananas from the Darien province to Panama City on behalf of the "Chiriqui Land Company."
During that era, the company's focus revolved around operating and managing a bulk service between Panama, Colombia, and the USA. Under the name Conship, they also represented shipping lines that traversed the Panama Canal and utilized the ports in the Canal Zone, the former U.S. designation for the Panama Canal Area.
In 1953, following the acquisition of Continental Shipping by the Lince family, the company underwent a name change to Agencias Continental, S.A., commonly known as "AGENCO."
Today, our company manages a significant volume of Panama Canal transits and port calls annually, along with a substantial amount of import/export and transshipment cargo totaling thousands of TEUs. Additionally, we provide seamless support for regular passenger airline services.
